Ghiscelaine Sylveste passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the age of 74. After a few months of battling health issues, Ghiscelaine passed away peacefully with her children and grandchildren beside her as she wished.
Ghiscelaine was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on March 18, 1948, to father, Jean Marcel Sylvestre (deceased), and mother, Ortancia Felix (deceased). Ghiscelaine was the oldest sibling of four brothers and four sisters. In Haiti, she worked as a preschool teacher. She loved being around kids and helping people in general.
Ghiscelaine had her first child in Haiti named Mackenzie Pierre (deceased). She left Haiti and moved to New York where she met her husband, Vaniel Altemar (deceased). They had their first child, Ricardo, and then moved to Miami where they had their two daughters, Sandra and Nathalie. Ghiscelaine waited until all of her children were in Elementary School before she started working. She always said no one can take care of her kids like a mother can, while her husband provided for the family and did a great job. She then worked in the hospitality industry for quite some time and then decided to pursue the healthcare field. Working as a Certified Nurse Assistant was her passion because she loved to help people and took pride in doing so. She saw everyone equally and would give the shirt off her back to someone in need.
In the end, Ghiscelaine put up a great battle with her health, no more suffering or pain she has to endure anymore. The Lord called her home to be right by his side to be reunited with her husband and looking down at her children, loved ones, and family.
She leaves behind son Ricardo Altemar, daughter Sandra Altemar, daughter Nathalie Altema, self-proclaimed daughter Jacqueline Menard, self-proclaimed daughter Judith Civil, self-proclaimed daughter Adrienne Knight ”Nicole”, grandchildren Natwayn Altemar, Jeanice Weeks, Ayana Altemar, Clenesha Lebrun, Zoria Lebrun, Noah Lebrun, Rickera Sylveste, Angelina Weeks, Ziyonna Menard, son-in-law Christopher Weeks, close family friend Immacula Bourgally, sister Marlene Sylvester Saba, sister Marie Martha Sylvestre (deceased), brother Samuel Sylvestre (deceased), sister Mona Sylvestre (deceased), sister Evelyne Sylvestre, brother Jean Sylvestre (deceased), brother Pierre Sylvestre, brother Jean Marcel Sylvestre, and extended nieces and nephews.
